Nowon

A Korean-American street bar that honors its roots

Service: Plant Design
Location: East Village

Nowon, a pocha (Korean street bar), is a lively intersection between the streets of Seoul and New York City. However, its namesake, a district in Seoul, isn’t just an urban capital, it’s also a neighborhood surrounded by mountains.

LIVIN brought in greenery that pays homage to this backdrop in a way that also stays true to the grime—installing lush plants in gray planter boxes, covering the wall planters in Korean newspapers.

Fun fact:  The newspaper coverings for the planters were inspired by a newspaper-covered wall designed by the Nowon team.
